Research Ranch Advisory Team
Dr. Linda Kennedy graduated from
Fort Hays State University, Hays, KS with a B.S. in biology
in 1992 and with an M.S. in biology in 1994. She went on to
earn a doctorate in botany (plant ecology) from Arizona State
University, Tempe, AZ in 1999. She was named Director of the
Appleton-Whittell Research Ranch and Apacheria Project in
summer, 2006, after serving as Assistant Director for seven
years. Her responsibilities include land stewardship, initiating
and supervising research projects, and planning and implementing
educational and outreach programs. Her professional interests
include all aspects of grassland ecology. She serves on the
Natural Areas Program Advisory Committee to Arizona State
Parks and the Resource Advisory Council for the Bureau of
Land Management in Arizona. Kennedy also works with Huachuca
Area Fire Partners for Cochise and Santa Cruz counties and
has recently been elected to the Board of Directors of the
Sonoita Crossroads Community Forum. For relaxation, she enjoys
reading, horseback riding, and spoiling her five grandsons.
